This policy explains how we process personal data on sloppy-sleuth-books.com, especially for our email newsletter.
2) What personal data we collect
– Newsletter sign-up: email address; first name or nickname (optional).
– If you contact us: name, email, and any information you include in your message.
– Website usage: We do not use analytics cookies.
We do not collect sensitive categories of data. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 16.
3) Why we collect it (purposes)
– To send our newsletter and updates about The Diary of a Sloppy Sleuth and related content.
– To manage subscriptions (double opt-in, unsubscribe, list hygiene).
– To respond to messages you send us.
We will never sell your personal data.
4) Legal bases (GDPR)
– Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) for sending newsletters. You can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in any email.
– Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) for basic site operation and replying to inbound messages.
5) Email service provider (processor): Brevo
We use Brevo (Sendinblue SAS) to send and manage newsletters. When you submit the form, your data is securely transferred to Brevo for processing on our behalf.

– Brevo’s Privacy Policy is available via the link beneath our form.
6) International transfers
Brevo may use infrastructure or sub-processors outside the EEA/UK. Where this occurs, Brevo implements appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) to protect your data.
7) How long we keep your data
– Newsletter data: until you unsubscribe or we delete inactive contacts after 24 months of no engagement—whichever comes first.
– Contact emails: for as long as needed to respond and for reasonable record-keeping 12 months, unless you ask us to delete sooner.
8) Your rights
You can exercise the following rights (subject to conditions in the GDPR/UK GDPR):
– Access your data
– Rectify inaccurate data
– Erase your data (“right to be forgotten”)
– Restrict or object to processing
– Data portability
– Withdraw consent (for newsletters) at any time, without affecting prior lawful processing

Every newsletter includes an Unsubscribe link that removes you immediately. You can also email malabika.ray.author(at)gmail.com with “Unsubscribe” in the subject line.

We use appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect personal data (encrypted connections, access controls, and secure processors such as Brevo). No online system can be 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
